This moment in last night's debate surprised me as I watched it live. Rewatching it today, a few times, I'm surprised by how moved I am by his words. Whatever his professional shortcomings, Biden has overcome some tragic stuff to become the man and leader that he is today. I don't mean to rankle or cajole, but rather to share what I see, now, personally, as a very powerful moment of humanity from a politician I've never considered much more than a stuffed shirt--a moment that speaks to me directly and moves me very much. Thank you, Senator Biden, for your candor.
